The issue of how the names of automatic modules are computed is an open issue in JSR 376. The Maven folks have proposed that the name be derived from the Maven coordinates. A means for the library maintainer to "reserve" a module name has also been proposed and discussed.

This issue tracks the implementation changes that will be needed to align the implementation with the final proposal or ruling on the issue.
