TIFF image poor rendering performance

An image read using the built in TIFF reader renders much slower than the same image read using the TwelveMonkeys TIFF reader. For example, an image of size 730x800 renders in less than 20ms when read by TwelveMonkeys, but renders in 400–800ms when read by the built in reader.
