Applet test instruction like "running applet:" , "applet size:" are not visible at first when run with the metal pipeline.
They are visible after clicking on the frame.
They are visible with opengl.

This can be seen in the test which has applet like : javax/swing/JScrollBar/8039464/Test8039464.java
