ADDITIONAL SYSTEM INFORMATION :
This has been a problem since JFX included a print function. The Printer Class is a javadoc straw man with lots of bells and whistles that don't deliver functionality. Even if you use a PDF generator for documents, you still need to control the printer to do serious jobs. Get real!
A DESCRIPTION OF THE PROBLEM :
Printer job settings have useless enums that don't have any use (i.e. paper source can be AUTOMATIC, BOTTOM, ENVELOPE, LARGE_CAPACITY, MAIN, MANUAL, MIDDLE and SIDE. My LEXMARK 2325 has a STANDARD tray and a MANUAL tray (that I cannot choose because the setting doesn't work - but that's a different bug report).
