java stream cannot sum char array

      ADDITIONAL SYSTEM INFORMATION :
      window 10, java 8

      A DESCRIPTION OF THE PROBLEM :
      char can calucate by just itself, list int x = 'a'+1 etc, using ascii , but why stream cannot sum char like normal calculate, this doesnt make sence
