A DESCRIPTION OF THE PROBLEM :
I think it's time to take a look at TreeView code for a huge refactor.
The code is too complicated and poorly documented making it harder for developers to code more complex features. Adding animations to the tree like expand/collapse for example, is really challenging and even if it is theoretically possible it is in practice impossible because of how the code is written.
If you think there's no need to review/refactor the code, please at least give us better documentation or examples on how we can implement complex features like animations
