The Early Access of JDK 17 for macOS, starting with build 17, uses the metal graphic rendering pipeline by default in order to achieve a better level of testing. We expect to switch back to OpenGL as the default rendering pipeling for macOS with build 23. You can revert to OpenGL by adding the following system property to your command line: -Dsun.java2d.opengl= “true”. When reporting bugs please specify if you have switched the default rendering pipeline.
