The changes in the 7th major release of jtreg include raising the required JDK to build and run jtreg to Java 11, cleaning up some internal and build-related code, and also updates 3rd-party dependencies.
The updates of 3rd-party dependencies include an almost 1:1 replacement of JUnit 4 with JUnit 5. Due to minor differences in how JUnit 5 is integrated via its Platform Console Standalone distribution we aim for making jtreg 7 the default for JDK 20. This way we may gather feedback and fix unforeseeable issues early in the next cycle.
