Feedback indicates that folk are not using snippets in small simple cases, because they use too much vertical white-space.

We should investigate and fix this.

Possibilities include either/both of special treatment for 1 line code, or a new attribute `compact` on a snippet. That would require a spec change. We can also check the CSS used for a snippet.
