Many modern apps uses a hamburger button on the decoration header (mimicking phone apps), tabs (like firefox or chrome) to make most of the screen space.

The idea is to provide a styleable control that makes it possible to pack existing JavaFx controls inside it, while keeping the functionality to display the window title, if needed.
