A DESCRIPTION OF THE PROBLEM :
It seems that even in 2024, PCM_FLOAT is still not a supported encoding for audio playback on linux, even though it's supported by all major Linux audio backends, like ALSA, PulseAudio and PipeWire, but I believe even JACK supports it.
While I'm not sure about macOS and Windows, it would be much appreciated if this was at least supported on Linux.
