[premain] Memory footprint increase with -XX:CacheDataStore

XMLWordPrintable

[reported from users of Leyden EA]

CDS has proven to allow to reduce the memory consumption on our use cases even with a single java instance (between 5% and 10%), current premain branch increases the memory consumption compared to a regular JVM. Is it because memory reduction has not yet been a focus? Do you think we can expect middle term similar/better/lower gains compared to CDS? I mean better startup/warmup is great, but if we could also get some memory reduction as a bonus and not introduce regressions compared to CDS, it would be great.
