The change for JDK-8321591 improved URI-to-Path conversion by increasing the throughput performance of normalizing a parsed path. It bears further investigation, however, whether some further improvement is possible, such as avoiding parsing entirely for certain URIs, or tuning the portion of parsing which precedes normalization.
