ADDITIONAL SYSTEM INFORMATION :
Specific to Windows 8.1 to 11 with the Windows system LAF. Any Java runtime from 11 to 25.
A DESCRIPTION OF THE PROBLEM :
With Windows LAF, the location of a JMenuItem icon is incorrect. The icon is a few pixels at the left of JMenuItem text. It should be aligned to the left of the JMenu like on any native Windows application.
STEPS TO FOLLOW TO REPRODUCE THE PROBLEM :
Compile and run slightly modified version of MenuLookDemo.java found below. Copied from https://docs.oracle.com/javase/tutorial/uiswing/components/menu.html
EXPECTED VERSUS ACTUAL BEHAVIOR :
EXPECTED -
JMenuItem icon should be aligned to the left of the JMenu like on any native Windows application.
ACTUAL -
JMenuItem icon is a few pixels at the left of JMenuItem text, not looking at all like what you'll find in any native Windows application.
