Say that you are using the Console and have configured a graph with some
attributes that you are interested in. Wouldn't it be good if you then could
simply select all the attributes in the legend, context-click and select "Log
to historical data" (or similar)?

You could perhaps also add attributes to historical data directly from the
MBean Browser, just as you can do "Visualize..." from there.
