When you edit filters on a page, you can e.g. add a filter that will check what the value of an attribute is. If the attribute is e.g. "Path" or "Destination" or "Url" or something similar, the text can potentially be long. But the length of the text that can be displayed in the filter control is limited and cannot be controlled by the user.

In normal tables you can adjust the columns so that the text is readable. This is something you not very often need to do, but sometimes it is essential.
