When running JMC with GTK3 on Linux the combo for setting the period value on an event doesn't get focus when just clicking the text field. The only way to set focus seems to be by clicking on the small drop-down arrow. This is not the case when running on GTK 2.

Testing this with a small test class (attached) doesn't show this behavior (regardless of GTK version) so it seems to be related to JMC (possibly content assist?)
