Templates exported from the template manager, and marked as JDK 7/8 templates, cannot be used with JDK 8 JVMs without heavy editing.

Error message:
Could not start recording, not able to parse jfc-file in JRE_HOME/lib/jfr for setting=C:\Tutorial\projects\04_JFR_GC\allocator.jfc. ParseException: cvc-complex-type.3.2.2: Attribute 'label' is not allowed to appear in element 'setting'.
