Some menu items cease to work after you close one of several applet windows. Seen on Solaris and Win32 with the latest build, but also with jdk116.

Steps to reproduce:
1) set up your environment variables to point to the latest build
2) launch the demo applet MoleculeViewer/example3.html (also seen with Animator, SortDemo and WireFrame), several windows will open
3) close the frontmost window
4) attempt to select one of the following menu items - Restart, Reload, Stop, Start

Results:
Menu items are unresponsive.
