Malformed characters are displayed on installsheild in all Japanese
windows machines - Win2000, WinNT and Win98. The problem was reported by
a Merlin CAP member.
J2SE Version (please include all output from java -version flag):
java version "1.4.0beta"
Java(TM) 2 Runtime Environment, Standard Edition (build 1.4.0beta-b38)
Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build B38, mixed mode)
Does this problem occur on J2SE 1.3? Yes / No (pick one)
No
And it doesn't occur on 1.4.0beta-b36.

Microsoft Windows 2000 Service Pack 1 (Japanese)
Hardware Configuration Information (be specific):
FMV-6600TX4e (FUJITSU)
CPU: Intel Pentium III (600E)
Memory: 320MB
Bug Description:
Just ran "j2sdk-1_4_0-beta-bin-b38-win-26_oct_2000.exe" and used
the default install directory.
Please see the attached JPEG(install.jpg) file. This is a hardcopy
image of the dialog, "Select Components". In this dialog, we can
see the second character of "Program Files" in Components area is
changed to a "center dot" character. And in the Description area
there are some characters changed to characters such as "?[" or "?B"
(The last character in the Description area is changed to "?B").
In next some progress-status frames and the last "Setup Complete"
dialog, we can see some malformed characters. The last character
of a sentencse (punctuation mark) is always changed to "?B".
