Beginning with J2SDK 1.4.0, the Solaris SDK will have SGML-formatted man pages
rather than troff man pages as in previous releases. The new SGML man pages
live in the workspace at src/solaris/doc/sun/man/sman1/. The SGML files in
this directory should be packaged and released with 1.4.0 rather than the old
troff man pages, which are in the workspace at src/solaris/doc/sun/man/.
The SGML man pages should be installed in a directory named
.../man/sman1. This is unlike previous troff man pages which were installed
in a directory named .../man/man1. The relevant section from the man(1)
man pages governing installation directories is the following.
Location of Manual Pages
The online Reference Manual page directories are convention-
ally located in /usr/share/man. The nroff sources are
located in the /usr/share/man/man* directories. The
SGML sources are located in the /usr/share/man/sman* direc-
tories. Each directory corresponds to a section of the
manual. Since these directories are optionally installed,
they may not reside on your host; you may have to mount
/usr/share/man from a host on which they do reside.
