Changing display modes while running VolatileDuke hangs

      This is reproducible in b80, merlin beta 3.

      Run src/share/test/java2d/VolatileImage/VolatileDuke.

      While it is running, right-click on the desktop to bring up the Properties...Settings dialog. Change the display mode.

      VolatileDuke hangs. You can also get VolatileDuke to hang by pressing ALT-ENTER on a DOS window to put it into full-screen mode and ALT-ENTER to return to windowed mode.

      I have been able to reproduce this on my own Matrox Millenium II running Windows NT 4.0 as well as Richard Ray's NVIDIA TNT2 running Windows NT 4.0.
