=====================================
OS : WindowsXP Prof. / 2K / 98 2nd ja
JDK: Mantis JRE 1.4.2 b23
j2re-1_4_2-rc-bin-b23-windows-i586-13_may_2003.exe
====================================
If installed path contains multi-byte characters, Java Runtime Enviroment's path in "Advanced" tab in ContorlPanel is mojibke.
To reproduce:
1. Install JRE into a directory containing multy-byte characters.
(Custom install)
2. Launch ControlPanel
START menu -> Setting -> "Java Plug-in"
3. Click on "Advanced" tab
4. Clink on choice menu.
5. 3 JRE are listed as below.
1) Use Java Plug-in Default.
2) JRE 1.4.2-rc in <<c:\multy-byte character path>>
3) Other...
Then, you can see that 2)'s path is mojibake
and if you select 2)'s JRE, Plugin does not work.
(Please refer to the attatched gif file.)
It seems that JRE can't be recognized due to mojibake.
If you select 1) Default JRE, Plugin works fine, however, this problem is user visible issue and plugin should work with selected JRE using ControlPanel.
This problem occurs on windows only.
* NOTE *
- I couldn't confirm with Mantis-beta due to #4847320.
- This problem does not occur on Solaris, RedHat Linux.
