A DESCRIPTION OF THE REQUEST :
There is currently no way to deploy a WebStart application that launches when the operating system starts up. Many applications provide an option to have the application launch on OS startup.

JUSTIFICATION :
In our case, we have a Media Management application that includes a server that provides content to network connected devices on the home network. Allowing the application to automatically launch (with user agreement of course) would be a great benefit.

EXPECTED VERSUS ACTUAL BEHAVIOR :
EXPECTED -
It would be nice to have an API or configuration parameter that would ask the user if they would like to install the application as a startup application.
ACTUAL -
There is currently no platform independent way to have the application launched at OS startup.

CUSTOMER SUBMITTED WORKAROUND :
There are platform dependent ways to achieve this, utilizing native code or registry-like settings.
