This is found in s10_52 LU regression test from Solaris 7 11/99 to s10_52. This happened on sparc and I did the following install:

OS: Solaris 7 11/99 FCS plus the Live Upgrade minimum patch recommended patch cluster:

Then I Live Upgrade the system to s10_52 and SUNWj5rt fail to pkgadd as follow with the following error in the upgrade_log:

This must be fixed by CAR4 because LU must work for s10 and this is a regression from S9.

Just in case it isn't clear, this is not a general failure of live upgrade.
It is only a failure of a Live Upgrade from Solaris 7 to Solaris 10.
