This bug occurs only with the Java Plug-in and only in Simplified Chinese.
1) Using J2SE v1.4.2_04, run the Sun/Java SwingSet2 applet-based demo.
2) In the default Internal Frames Demo tab click in the text field on the right for Frame Title.
3) Select a Windows Input Locale from Regional Options that will not do on-the-spot input. I found that Chinese (Simplified) QuanPin always reproduced the problem.
4) Enter some text, for example, the letters feng. A composition window will appear just below the text field (below-the-spot; as expected).
RESULT: Rather than allowing input directly into the Frame Title text field, a separate window appears to allow input. This new input window appear over the composition window, thereby hiding the ideograph choices.
