1) Using J2SE v1.4.2_04, run the Sun/Java SwingSet2 demo.
2) In the default Internal Frames Demo tab click in the text field on the right.
3) Select a Windows Input Locale from Regional Options that will not do on-the-spot input. I found that Chinese (Simplified) QuanPin always reproduced the problem.
4) Enter some text, for example, the letters feng. A composition window will appear just below the text field (below-the-spot; as expected). Do not press enter or select an ideograph so that the composition window remains active.
5) Click away or use Alt-Tab to make another application window active (a browser, another Java VM app, etc.)
6) Click back/Alt-Tab to the SwingSet2 demo.
RESULT: The below-the-spot composition window will have to some other very disjointed and distant spot on the screen (typically the bottom of the screen).
