1.5.0_06-erint-20060420 (for Samsung) jdk/jre windows bundles do not install/remove correctly.
The bundles used were taken from the following location:
http://jre.sfbay/java/re/jdk/1.5.0_06/promoted/erint/20060420/bundles/windows-i586/
I will describe the jdk problem followed by the jre problem. It could be that both problems are related but for the purposes of this bug I will describe both separately.
1. JDK Problem.
Install the jdk by clicking the jdk-1_5_0_06-erint-windows-i586-p.exe executable.
The expected behaviour is as follows:
a. Main jdk installation window. Specify location of jdk and click next. The jdk proceeds to install.
b. A separate jre installation windows pops up. It should detect the browsers that are on the system and will attempt to register plugins for this jre with these browsers. Specify the location of the jre and click next.
c. Both jre and jdk should install. Plugins should be register with the selected browsers.
The observed actual behaviour is as follows:
a. Main jdk installation window. Specify location of jdk and click next. The jdk proceeds to install.
b. Jdk installation finishes with the following msg
"The wizard was interrupted before J2SE Development Kit 5.0 Update 6 could be completely installed. Your system has not been modified. To complete installation at another time, please run setup again. Click Finish to exit the wizard."
At no time do I see the jre installation window as part of the jdk installation. I have attached a screen shot of the msg above. It looks like the jre does not get installed at all as there is not jre install-directory and there is no Java icon in the windows control panel. Removing the jdk seems ok.
2. JRE Problem.
Install the jre by clicking the jre-1_5_0_06-erint-windows-i586-p.exe executable.
It detects the browsers and the installation appears to go well.
However, I have noted the following:
A. The is no Java icon in the windows control panel.
B. When I go to remove the jre I get the following error msg from the Add/Remove Programs "Fatal Error during installation". I am unable to remove the jre at this point.
The OS is windows-xp-home (SP2).
