JDK/JRE : 6u14 b03
Platform: Ubuntu 8.04 x64

32-bit JDK/JRE can't be installed on 64-bit Ubuntu OS. 64-bit JDK/JRE installs fine. Also, 32-bit JDK/JRE could be successfully installed on 32-bit Ubuntu.

Several other JDK updates tried (including JDK 5.0 updates) - the result is the same. Not reproducible on other Linux systems.
