One of our customers is having some problems running under this environment:
-Sony Vaio
-Vista 32-bit Business with SP2
-Trend Micro Internet Security Pro (See attachments for more info)
There we 2 problems, one with the JRE and one with the JDK.
Problem 1: Steps to reproduce
1. Launch the 6u16 JRE online installer .exe from java.sun.com
2. Agree to license, then watch it download the files
Expected behavior: After files are downloaded, it should run the msi file
Actual behavior: After files are downloaded, nothing happens. All of the files appear to be successfully downloaded to the appdata dir, but they are not launched. It's possible to manually run the msi from here and get a successful install.
Problem 2: Steps to reproduce
1. Launch the 6u16 JDK offline installer .exe from java.sun.com
Expected behavior: After files are downloaded, it should run the msi file
Actual behavior: After files are downloaded, nothing happens. From the appdata location, it appears that the jdk msi file is extracted, but none of the cab files are extracted. It's possibly that the antivirus software doesn't like the extraction of cab files. It's NOT possible to manually run the msi from here to get a successful install.
Note: No JRE/JDK installer logs are created in either problem. This fix should also create some better logging with our online and offline wrappers.
