FULL PRODUCT VERSION :
java version "1.6.0_18"
Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.6.0_18-b07)
Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 16.0-b13, mixed mode, sharing)
ADDITIONAL OS VERSION INFORMATION :
Windows XP Professional Version 2002 Service Pack 2
A DESCRIPTION OF THE PROBLEM :
We have developped a java Web started application for which a shortcut is added to the desktop. Several of our customers claim that the shortcut had disappeared from the desktop just after that a jre upgrading had been performed. The only way to get it back is to use the java control panel and to select the application from the list and ask to create the shortcut again.
The previous used JRE was 1.6.0_17 updated to JRE 1.6.0_18.
That seems to be an old problem which already appeared before the JRE 1.6.0_12 (several times reported as a bug)
REPRODUCIBILITY :
This bug can be reproduced often.
Release Regression From : 6u17
The above release value was the last known release where this
bug was not reproducible. Since then there has been a regression.
claims that this is a regression in 6u17 are shown false by various other statements tht this occurs in other releases.
