Verify that the following groups agree that the License will be presented following the Solaris Policy. There have been a number of emails on the topic but none of them restate what is being approved. I am not using names. It is difficult for others to follow, when names are used instead of more descriptive terms describing roles. it is also no clear that the groups have all signed off.
Java Distribution Engineering (JDS) - Group Producing the packages (Gustavo Galimberti)
IPS Engineering (IPSE) - Group developing and final technical authority on IPS (Dave Comay)
Solaris Engineering Legal (SEL) ??
Java Engineering Legal (JEL) ??
Solaris Release Organization (SRO) ??
Java Product Management (JPM) Aurelio Garciaribeyro
This discussion is limited to Java IPS packages hosted by the Solaris organization. Packages hosted at other repositoires are not currently part of the product plan.
JDS will produce packages that are tested and approved by IPSE. These packages will not request users to accept license terms. License terms will be presented via the Standard Oracle process when a user downloads the Solaris Software from the software site. Electronic Media is not covered in this discussion. JDS will produce updates and provide these updates to SRO. If a new license is required it is the repsonsibility of the SRO group to make sure a user sees the new terms.
1) JEL has to provide the license text to SEL
2) When the Java License Terms change JEL has to provide the license text SEL
3) It is totally possible that multiple JDS pacakges can be produced and user will not be prompted to go to a web site when isntalling a 4) Java Update on Soalris, using the Solaris release site.
5) The original request from JPM for user clicking on the Java terms and conditions on updates is not in the current implementation
