A DESCRIPTION OF THE REQUEST :
Currently when installing or updating Java on Windows there are two checkboxes on by default:
1. To install Ask Search provider.
2. Install Ask Toolbar.
This is extremely frustrating for clients with limited computer knowledge. All clients use Google as their preferred search provider. They are extremely annoyed to find an update that changes there preferences simple because the forgot to opt out.
JUSTIFICATION :
There is absolutely no reason or justification for a installer such as Java to changes a users search preferences or homepage.
EXPECTED VERSUS ACTUAL BEHAVIOR :
EXPECTED -
Not to have to keep unchecking boxes every time Java is installed you updated.
ACTUAL -
Checkboxes for Ask Search Provider and Toolbar/Home page are on by default.
CUSTOMER SUBMITTED WORKAROUND :
Uncheck boxes or uninstall Ask products which are not welcome.
