The static javadoc index files and the dynamic search feature have traditionally used different comparators to sort index items. Comparators have been unified in JDK-8253735 but different comparators may be reintroduced in JDK-8244535. We should find out whether there is any good reason to use different comparators and if not find one that works in all places.
