Java(TM) Plug-in: Version 1.2.2.px
Using JRE version 1.2.2
The Java Plug-In allows the Java Console to be displayed only by checking the
"Show Java Console" checkbox on the Java Plug-In Control Panel. This causes the
Java Console to appear upon the first applet loaded within a browser session.
However, there is no way to reopen the Java Console if it is closed (or to open
it if this checkbox is not checked).
This is highly problematic, because one main benefit of the Java Console is to
allow technical support personnel to troubleshoot end-user problems. End users
are the least likely to have the Java Console open at all times. If anything,
it is a nuissance for an end user to have it open at all. However, once a
problem occurs, it would be a big benefit to be able allow an end user to open
the Java Console after a failure occurs, instead of requiring them to reproduce
a problem (which may not even be possible, depending on the nature of the
problem) and keep the Java Console open until the problem reoccurs.
Please add a feature to allow the Java Console to be opened at other times
besides Plug-in loading.
