Japanese characters displayed on Font2DTest are not fitted in cells. Tested with jdk1.4 beta b60 on Solaris 7.
Steps to reproduce:
Invoke Font2DTest with jdk1.4 beta b60 on Solaris.
Select Range:Others
Set Unicode: 4e00 - 4ef0
Select Method drawString, drawChars, drawGlyphVEctor, TextLayout.draw
Japanese characters are not fitted in cells. Please adjust them.
It occurred with b59 too. I attached a snap shot.

-----------------------
1) No error message or warning message appeared when Font2DTest was invoked
2) I attached the output of xset q on solaris 7 ja_JP.PCK. /usr/openwin/lib/locale/ja/X11/fonts/TTbitmaps was there.
3) Before running the test, ran xset +fp /usr/openwin/lib/locale/ja/X11/fonts/TTbitmaps. The result was the same.
It occurred on IA8 ja_JP.eucJP, too. Wasn't it a problem in metrics? The problem could be serious for us only because not Chineses characters but only Japanese characters we need to test were outside the cells.

------------------------
It's reproducible with jdk1.4 b62.
It occurred only in plain style. In bold and others, Japanese characters (Kanji: unicode range 4e00 - 4ef0) are in cells.
